This family business is located in the Alto Laguna Indigenous Reserve, Sierpe de Osa. The project has been serving tourists since 2012. Thanks to the visit of the tourists, the children of the Ngöbe indigenous community receive the teaching of the English language, due to the initiative of a visitor who decided to stay in the area and teach the lessons. The project has a medium to high level of visitation, mainly in the summer season.

Ngöbe Cultural Tour.

The service offered is completely different to any tourist adventure in the area since visitors will have the opportunity to deeply know the Ngöbe indigenous culture. This way, tourists will be exposed to several cultural activities such as natural indigenous medicine, traditional agricultural activities typical of indigenous and peasant culture, and the history of this interesting ethnic group.

Tour in Alto Laguna Indigenous Community

In this tour, the tourists are guided through the community, where they can experience the lifestyle of the indigenous communities of the area and interact intimately with their people. It is possible to go walking or riding a horse while enjoying unparalleled natural attractions including a waterfall.

How to get there to Aguas Ricas Lodge

 How to get here

Driving from San José: From San José you can get there by taking route 27, then travel towards Jacó and continue along Costanera Sur highway until you reach Palmar Norte, then take route 245 towards Puerto Jiménez. You can use the mobile application called Waze to get there easily.

 

By bus: Several buses depart daily from San José to Palmar Norte arriving in approximately 6.5 hours (ask the taxi driver to drop you off at the Tracopa bus terminal in San José). There are buses that depart daily from San José on 12 street between 7th and 9 th Avenues (6 a.m. and 12 noon).

 

By plane: Sansa and Nature Air have daily direct flights to Drake Bay and Puerto Jimenez, which take less than an hour. Review the itineraries at (www.flysansa.com) and (www.natureair.com). Paradise Air makes private flights to Drake Bay, Puerto Jimenez, Carate and Sirena.
