Makanda By the Sea is 12 acres of sanctuary, 100 meters above the ocean. All of Makanda's Villas and Studios have been carefully placed in the botanical rainforest gardens with spectacular views of the sixty mile coastline. It is truly a haven for the adventurist seeking relief from the controlled environs of modern life. Located just off the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park , Makanda By the Sea's unique contemporary design blends elegant architecture with its striking green backdrop in one of Costa Rica 's richest natural settings.
The first structure at Makanda by the Sea was the Large Villa, originally designed as a home. This villa now hosts three attractive Studios 2 and 4 and Studio 3, on the lower level and the larger "Villa 1" on the upper level. It is unique in that these rooms may remain private, or may be interconnected in various combinations (to accommodate up to 8 guests) by way of gardens, patios, and stairways. All rooms are fully equipped to accommodate guests needs as a group or independently, and all offer private entrances.
The other Villas 5, Villa 6, and Villa 10, are set in the rainforest along the mountainside, and have their own private Japanese gardens. As with most of our rooms, expansive bi-fold doors open onto large terraces, making Junglanature part of the home. From each private terrace to the king size beds, the closeness of the jungle is always present. From the fully equipped kitchens to the comfortable bathrooms, rainforest and ocean views keep your eyes fixed on the beauty out your windows at all times. These Villas with their vaulted ceilings, large wrap around sofas, hand-crafted tiles and exotic hardwoods add just the right touch to make your stay in the jungle one of elegance.
While also boasting an ocean view, Villa 7 is unique in that it is an apartment style bedroom suite uniquely hidden under the infinity pool, and set deeply into the heart of the jungle. It's glass enclosed living area brings the lush rainforest to your Paisajedoorstep, or enjoy the views and animals from your private terrace.
Villa 8 is an elegant villa with a private Japanese garden, and our only unit with two side by side queen beds. It's intimacy with the surrounding jungle allows you to enjoy your breakfast with the local wildlife, while admiring it's 16 foot vaulted ceilings, large wrap around sofa, hand-crafted tiles and exotic hardwoods. The large terrace guarantees your comfort and relaxation.
