The lodge is nestled into the rolling pastures, at the foothills of the Poás Volcano, one of the worlds largest active craters. The impressive views from the house include not only the volcano, but also the western area of the spectacular Braulio Carillo National Park as well as the Caribbean plains. Poás Volcano Lodge is just a few meters from the nearest protected subtropical rain forest area, through which a network of trails have been designed for visitors to explore.
Our Rooms
The lodge comprises of nine comfortable bedrooms, including a luxurious master suite with a sunken stone bathtub. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms and a luxury rustic flavour with stone walls, wood panelling, soft lighting and sumptious beds. They each have private access to the garden which affords an impressive view to the volcano.

We bake our own whole-wheat caraway bread most days and if you stay for a longer period you will enjoy the lodge's secret granola recipe. The jam is made from our own strawberries and the milk is collected every morning from the farm's dairy. We also support local farmers and producers and buy various products (white cheese).
- Sunken Fireplace
This is a heavenly place to spend the evening. We can serve you drinks in front of the fire before dinner and it is also a relaxing place in which to read, or chat after dinner with other guests at the lodge.
- Board Games
You will find them in the main sitting room. (Backgammon, monopoly, dominoes and chess table are available)
- Music
We have a music collection of classical, jazz, folk, pop, rhythm and blues and Latin.
- The Little Gift Shop
Choose from a carefully selected variety of gifts and books, including locally handcrafted aromatic candles, Americo coffee, beautifully woven hammocks, originally designed jewelry combining silver and semiprecious stones, homemade condiments and local sweet specialties.
- The Art Gallery
Most of the paintings hung on the stone walls of the lodge are painted by well-known contemporary Costa Rican artists. We are happy to give you any information regarding the artist and whether the paintings are for sale.

We have a network of trails leading you through both the pastures and subtropical cloud forest in the area surrounding the lodge.

Activities
Activities which can be arranged for guests from the lodge include:

- Riding tours with exclusive access to local farms and the surrounding countryside.
- Visit to Doka Estate and La Casita del Café with an organized tour around the coffee plantations.
- Guided walks through La Legua, part of the Braulio Carrillo National Park.
