Activities
Hiking, whitewater rafting, and birding. Discover wildlife, learn about environmental concerns, and meet local students and teachers.
Guided Nature Hike
Most of Selva Verde’s 500 acres is a private rainforest reserve. Go hiking with one of our naturalist guides and learn about the primary rainforest environment. Walks are tailored to individual interests and needs.
$20 per person (2 hours) / $35 per person (4 hours)
Sarapiquí Wildlife Boat Ride
Glide down the Sarapiquí River in search of caiman, howler monkeys, iguanas, birds, and other tropical wildlife. Enjoy the covered boats with quiet electric motors and drivers who are expert animal spotters.
$25 per person, including round trip transportation (2 hours)
White-Water Rafting Adventure
Depart from Selva Verde and journey through the Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica. A preliminary safety orientation will prepare you for the challenges you’ll face on the water. Keep an eye out for the diversity of the wildlife seen at the river’s edge in between the Class I-III rapids. If you are a skilled rafter, we can arrange a more challenging excursion on Class III-IV rapids. All trips are escorted by a professional river guide.

Horseback Riding
Explore the Sarapiquí countryside and rain forest by horseback. Spot these species common to Costa
Rica: white-nosed coatimun
$20 per person (2-3 hours)

The River Lodge
Located near the Sarapiquí River, our charming River Lodge rooms rise above the rainforest floor on elevated platforms affording you a unique view of the surrounding flora and fauna. Rooms accommodate one to four guests in twin beds.

The Cabinas
Our Cabinas are discretely tucked in the forest near our Butterfly Garden and are well suited for students and small groups. They accommodate up to four guests in twin beds.
Rooms feature:

* screened windows with privacy shutters
* private bathrooms with hot/cold water
* ceiling fans
* radios
Children under 12 years are free.
Children 12-15 years old rate: $32 per person.
(Must share room with two adults.)
“Room with no meals” rates are available by special request. Deduct $26 per person from the rates listed above. Meals may be purchased separately at $6 per person for breakfast, $8 per person for lunch, and
$10 per person for dinner.
