Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrival to San José
Welcome at the airport. Transfer in to the hotel. Free afternoon and night in the city. Lodging in San José.

 

 

 DAY 2 Extreme Forest Park
Breakfast at the Hotel. Early departure to Valle de Los Santos, over the Panamerican Highway entering an area of forest and crops. The last part of the journey towards Valle de Los Santos, we leave the highway on Kilometer 76, going into a typical rural Costa Rican area. Arrival to Providencia. Visit Extreme Forest Park, where nature and adrenaline mix on rope course activities; canopy, parallel cables, rocket man, Tarzan’s flight are some of the options you can practice. Lunch included. Hike on the trails and tree climbing. Lodging in a mountain lodge.

 

 

 DAY 3 Quetzal Route
The trek starts: 12 kilometers through Los Santos Forest Reserve. Early departure, arriving to La Chaqueta, in the middle of the forest, at the end of the day. This is a demanding hike, where we can observe the magnificent primary Cloud Forest of Los Santos Reserve, and the abundant variety of flora and fauna of the region, including mammals, birds, reptiles, etc. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lodging at La Chaqueta in a rustic mountain lodge.

 

 

 DAY 4 La Chaqueta/Piedras Blancas
Breakfast -abundant and delicious local taste. We continue our trek crossing the Reserve descending to Piedras Blancas, 6 kilometers away from the picturesque site of La Chaqueta. We cross the Savegre River, considered one of the more unexplored rivers of the country. We continue our experience of living with nature, admiring the scenery, rivers, and waterfalls of the area. Free afternoon to swim in the river and explore the area surrounding the mountain lodge at Piedras Blancas. Lunch, dinner. Lodging at a rustic mountain lodge.

 

 

 DAY 5 Piedras Blancas/El Brujo
Breakfast. In the morning, visit to the Savegre Caves, impressive rock formations where you can admire the ancient formations of stalagmites and stalactites in various galleries while exploring the caves with local guides. Back to the lodge for lunch and leave for El Brujo, 6 kilometers of hiking downstream. Birdwatching and observing now the Rain Forest. Dinner and overnight in a camp at El Brujo.

 

 

 DAY 6 El Brujo/Santo Domingo/Dominical
Breakfasto. 4 kilometers of class III y IV rapids in the Savegre river, enjoying and unforgettable adventure. Along the river we pass a cascade 20 meters high in the middle of the jungle, and we stop to swim in a safe place at lunch time. When we arrive to Santo Domingo we tackel into an all terrain vehicle that Hill take us towards Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge in the Pacific coast of southern.

 

 

 DAY 7 Punta Uvita
Breakfast. Vist to Punta Uvita, the Whales Tail and the beaches of Ballena Marine National Park. Here you can admire the stunning natural rock formation, which at low tide is akin to the tail of a whale; one can take good sites for snorkelling along filon rocks. Lodging at Hacienda Barú. You can opt for several optional activities for this afternoon (see attached table)

 

 

 DAY 8 Playa Dominical/Valle de El General
Breakfast. Transportation to Valle de El General. It is a 50 kilometers journey, passing a series of microclimates, in 30 minutes from the sea level to one thousand meters. Picturesque views all along the way through villages along the road. Arrival to Valle de El General, and to Agro San Miguel. Hike on the trails of the mountains that surround Valle de El General. We experience extreme adventure activities such as canyoning in 7 waterfalls as we walk along the paths of this Agro-touristic farm. Lunch and dinner. Lodging in Agro San Miguel.

 

 

 DAY 9 Chirripó Nacional Park
Breakfasto. An early Start to climb Cerro Ena, called “the sentinel of the National Parks Chirripó and La Amistad¨. From the top you can enjoy the impressive views of the mountains of the southern region and the highest mount of . At the end of the day we will descend to a shelter to stay overnight. Lunch and dinner.

 

 

 DAY 10 Agro San Miguel/San José
Breakfast. Departure from Agro San Miguel, crossing Cerro de la Muerte, on the way back to San José.
Lodging in the city. Free afternoon and night.

 

 

DAY 11 San José/Aeropuerto
Transfer out. Hotel - airport.

 

 

End of the trip.
