As many know Costa Rica has some of the most beautiful rain forests in the world and hiking through the rain forest is definitely a good way to see the forest however a new way of viewing the wildlife has become the trend lately, Canopy Tours. These Canopy Tours were invented because most of the wildlife in the forest is at the canopy level of the forest and what a better way to see it than to be in the Canopy.
There are several walkways or skywalks through out Costa Rica that have a bridge strung across a valley where you can walk above the canopy and get a birds eye view of the top of the forest. There is also an aerial tram that is a gondola that slowly motors through the canopy giving the tourist a unique view of the forest. However the most popular form of Canopy Tours is the kind where there are platforms build into the strongest trees and then a zip line is strung in between the trees and tourist are then sent zipping between the trees. You are tied in with a harness and then sent at high speeds from one tree to another until the end of the line and then you allowed to transverse down from the final platform to the ground. It is an adrenalin filled experience and it is definitely for the more adventurous tourist.
Costa Rica's mountainous topography and copious rainfall are together responsible for one of the best white water river selections in the world. About half a dozen rambunctious rivers are regularly run by experienced rafting outfitters, and those river trips not only provide plenty of excitement, they also pass some gorgeous scenery. Not only do white water enthusiasts flock Costa Rica, including several Olympic kayaking teams, but every year tens of thousands of visitors experience the thrill of rafting for the first time there. |
