Birding regions

Costa Rica is a country with high biological diversity among various taxonomic groups (Janzen 1983), and birds are not an exception (Stiles and Skutch 1989).

Highlands
Includes the mountains of Cordillera of Talamanca and Cordillera Volcánica Central; the Poás and Irazú volcanoes, Cerro de la Muerte, and Chirripó National Park, also highlands of Monteverde.

Littoral of the Caribbean
North Lowlands, Arenal, Sarapiquí, Turrialba, Braulio Carrillo National Park and the whole Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, from Tortuguero to the South Caribbean.

North Pacific
Includes Guanacaste, the Nicoya Peninsula, Monteverde and the north side of Puntarenas.

South Pacific
Goes from Carara Reserve in Jacó, to the south border of Costa Rica, and Valle de El General.

Central Valley
Includes the Metropolitan Area and surroundings, San José, Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago, Orosi and the cities with more population of Costa Rica.

Birding programs

Our birdng programs provide the opportunity to explore very interesting locations of intense bird activity in Costa Rica. You can choose either one of the programs independently, or connect them for a longer trip. Services such as guides and car rental can be added to the programs. Final quotation will be based on the requested services, number of people, and season.
